Wilderness Techie

I'm a tech guy. Computers mostly, web design, programming, etc. I've even tried my hand at raytracing. I live with my family on a 120 acre farm in south Missouri with any number of chickens, a horse, two ponies, 5 dogs, 29 cats, a few ginueas, about 80 goats or so and some Kikos, a bourke parakeet, 2 budgeragars, 2 lovebirds and 5 cockatiels. Oh, and about 25 head of cattle too; forgot about those. lol :)

Merchant Account

When you're in the market for getting robbed, I mean, for a merchant account, you normally have a huge selection you can pick from. Some charge both arms and both legs, some only charge a finger or two. In terms of Green, this can mean anywhere from $200 to open an acount and $80 a month, plus a termanation fee of up to $1000's of dollars and $100 a year, to free startup, no termination fees or annual fees and only $25 a month.
Of course you'd like to get the $25 a month no-brainer... me too. But it's not always as easy as just signing up with the merchat account provider. In my case, I applied for probably at least a half dozen merchant accounts, and all got denied, because of the fact that I'm not a slave, and never have been. IOW I don't have any credit.
Now I'm stuck with a merchant account that costs $64.95 a month, and minimum of $300 termination fee and I still havent been able to get their ugly checkout page integrated into my site. Thankfully there are no annual or startup fees, but I know there are better providers out there and eventually I want to switch.
Another thing I dont like about this merchant account is that it seems every 2 weeks or so theres some kind of "Emergency Maintinance"; "Scheduled Maintinance" or "Unexpected Maintinance" >< It hasen't caused me problems yet, but its kind of unnerving that they are having this much trouble all the time.
