Wilderness Techie

I'm a tech guy. Computers mostly, web design, programming, etc. I've even tried my hand at raytracing. I live with my family on a 120 acre farm in south Missouri with any number of chickens, a horse, two ponies, 5 dogs, 29 cats, a few ginueas, about 80 goats or so and some Kikos, a bourke parakeet, 2 budgeragars, 2 lovebirds and 5 cockatiels. Oh, and about 25 head of cattle too; forgot about those. lol :)

Boredom and Archery

Ok, so I'm on the computer too long. Well, at times I have to be, its my job. But yea I should have something else I can do in my 'free time'...

So I made that a purpose in life. A quest to find 'something to do.'

And I think I may have found it.

Hey, I havent even tried it yet! But I have a feeling this is what I've been looking for.
So far, here are the good things I see about archery.
  • It is an outside activity
  • The start-up costs are not in the thousands like my brothers dream hobbies are. :P
  • It seems to promote a positive attitude and sense of refinement
  • It is something I can talk about!!!! ^^
  • My family dosent have a problem with it.
(Note here on that last bullet: Of the few things I have tried in the past alot of them somehow didnt agree with the rest of my family so I had to give them up, but looking back at some of them now, I know I wouldnt have lasted long in it anyways.)

So, theres a little blurb about my life at present, don't think I've ever done that before, actually told anyone about my feelings on something. hmmm ;)

I am going to this SCA archery event this weekend, I might be able to try shooting a bit, though I'm pretty sure I'll have a hard time with it. Oh well.

Fear of Birds

Friends visited today, and we had a great time. One event that took place that was pretty funny was some dialog between the parents of the family. It went something like this.

Dana: Brett! Why is there a bird on your shirt!?
Brett: Because I didnt move it yet?
D: Did it FLY over there?
B: No, it more like 'hopped' over here.
(Bird climbs to the top of his head)
D: It's on your HEAD!
B: Yes.
B: If it poops on there I wont mind.
D: *tense*
